“KEEP YOUR MEDITATION AND PRAYER CENTERED ON GOD

Always begin your meditation with a contemplation of truth, but by this time you know that there is no truth about ‘man, whose breath is in his nostrils.’ So there is no use pondering or contemplating anything about your patient or his condition. If then, you are not to take your patient or his condition into your meditation, what are you to do? There is nothing left but God. Therefore, in your contemplative meditation, you meditate on God:

God! Why am I seeking God, when God is already closer to me than breathing? Why am I struggling so hard to reach God? Why am I going through so many mental gymnastics? Why do I think I have to repeat formulas? Why should I believe that I have to stand on my head, or fast, or feast to the God that is already my very own being? True, judging from appearances, I am separate and apart from God, what is the truth? What truth is there other than that I and the Father are one?” ~Joel S Goldsmith

“THERE IS NOT GOD ‘AND’ A PATIENT

Are you going to judge by what you see, hear, taste, touch, and smell? Are you going to believe that God is in that picture? If you are going to look at this world with your eyes, you are never going to be able to believe in God because all you can see, hear, taste, touch, and smell is finiteness, just finiteness: limitation, sin, disease, death, stupidity. Once you close your eyes to the appearance and ask yourself, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? What is the Garden of Eden?’ you will hear the still small voice, and even while you are looking directly at sick, sinning, or dying man, that voice will say to you:

'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' Fear not, it is I.

The Daily Lesson – April 13, 2024

A healing meditation is complete only if it embodies the truth about God: God's law, God's omnipotence, God's omniscience, God's omnipresence. Then, even though the patient may have a high fever, may be in pain, distress, or poverty, everything of a fearful nature is eradicated from your thought, and an inner feeling of assurance comes to you:

This is God's beloved child. What then have I to fear? Is there a child of God outside the kingdom of God, or am I being fooled by appearances? That must be where the difficulty lies. I have been fooled into believing in appearances because my eyes and my ears testify to a selfhood outside the kingdom of God. ~Joel S Goldsmith

That realization, however, may not bring about the healing either. And so you come to the word ‘omniscience,’ which means all-knowledge, all-science, all-wisdom.

God is omniscience. I do not have to tell the all-knowing God anything about my patient or his condition. If God does not know it now, God never will, and surely I could not be guilty of such egotism as to believe that I know something God does not know. Therefore, I do not have to tell God anything about my patient, what the patient needs or requires, or what my patient would like. When we sit down in Silence to “be with” someone that has asked for help, one of the things that might pop up in our contemplation is that there seems to be God, a patient, and me. It seems like there are 3 beings. A good next step is to Know that “The Kingdom of God is within” Me. Now it is true like there are 2 beings—Me and God. Well, if God is within Me, it must also be true that God is within the patient too. Now there is no longer 3, or 2, in Truth there is only One…. God And. Recently, when the principle of one power came up with someone who was drinking too heavily, I cautioned him, ‘Be careful that you do not believe that alcohol is power, power for good or for evil.’ At first, that may sound shocking because the devastating effects of alcoholism can be seen on every side, but if you accept the belief that alcohol is power, you will be the blind leading the blind. You will never be able to help anyone rise out of alcoholism unless you, yourself, have clearly perceived the truth that there is only one power. What is the difference, really, between an appearance of alcoholism and an appearance of infectious germs? What is the difference? Human sense tends to believe what it thinks and is distracted by it’s temporary needs. It rarely looks deeper into Spiritual Cause and the Source of Being. Few there be that seek the Kingdom of God just to rest there. Herein lies our Work – to continue to point the Way to the Truth and Love of Christ Consciousness.
